What Type of Culture Earns Best Workplace Recognition?
The structure of a “best workplace” has changed quite a bit over the past couple of years. The traditional idea of a “best workplace” calls to mind beautiful office spaces with well-stocked breakrooms. But now that work is remote for many companies, a “best workplace” means something totally different.
This past year in particular, UpSellit has managed to set the standard for what it means for a workplace to truly be great. We believe that our ability to achieve both success and togetherness from miles away is what earned our recognition as one of America’s best places to work.
Collaboration From Miles Apart
At UpSellit, culture is at the forefront of every decision we make. While our traditional idea of culture was disrupted back in March 2020, we have now rebuilt an even stronger culture from miles apart.
Although we are a 100% remote company, we have created a culture of video conferences and open communication. This allows for all types of collaborations, from all-hands brainstorms to casual conversations. Going beyond business-related communications, we have monthly virtual parties where we explore everything from zoology to murder mystery. We also host monthly workout challenges and occasional in-person meetups.
Our ongoing goal is to maintain the strong connections we all already have while building new ones along the way. The culture that we are constantly improving on has enabled us to thrive from conference rooms to living rooms, and everywhere in between.
Management That Fosters Freedom
Each of our departments has its own set of leaders. Our managers allow employees to virtually lean on their colleagues to troubleshoot and take ownership of day-to-day issues. This fosters autonomy and creates a culture where employees can and grow confidence in the idea that colleagues can effectively problem solve with a little collaboration.
We also encourage everyone to chart their own path. If anyone at UpSellit vocalizes a desire to take on new skills or mature their position, we as a company do everything we can to enable that path for them. Our employees also have the freedom to choose their own schedules, routines, and locations. Allowing employees to work from whatever place in the world they want to call home has generated higher levels of productivity as each employee can work in the environment most comfortable to them.
